Longitude Punk’d

Exhibition graphic design

Between April 2014 and January 2015, Royal Observatory Greenwich was taken over by steampunk artists inspired by the 18th-century race for longitude. Steampunk inventors, scientists and nu wave explorers took visitors on an adventure into a world where scientific convention and the laws of nature had been re-written. Their outlandish narrative reinterpreted the science and drama of the 18th-century quest to find longitude at sea, inspired by the 300th anniversary of the Longitude Act.

My design played on this reinterpretation, bringing in unusual classical type weights mixed with steamp punk illustrations by Dr Geoff.
